You're not wrong, but likewise, as a dev I didn't much like being spammed with free game alerts just for trying to do my job! And the decision making behind these things seems very much the same.

Are notifications the wrong default though? You can turn them off permanently in launcher settings, and also turn off all Epic Games store functionality so it’s just an engine launcher. Versus Twitter’s “show less of this” anti-pattern.

I block any politician that appears in my feed, whatever the reason was. Does that still work?
-
Yes, but the problem is the millions of users tweeting about politics, and that showing up in everyone’s feed even when not following anybody who posted or retweeted it, because of some sort of doubly-indirect interaction.

To hell with this awful new epic game store. Nobody wants to buy all of these exclusive just because someone's great grandfollower's cousin buys them.
@TimSweeneyEpicThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I really can't stand Twitter harassing me with posts by people I don't follow, because someone I know hit "like" on something. Such an insane behavior. Plus it makes me want to avoid interacting with people, treating my "like" as if it's a "retweet".

all that can be turned off in settings i think... i had to make quite a few adjustments
