Hey @TimSweeneyEpic what’s your beef with Linux

What are those rights? I think it’s the user’s right to install software of their choosing from sources of their choosing, developers’ right to release software on their own, and competition among stores.
-
Does this mean ever game developer has an obligation to release their game on every store? No, it’s their creative work, and they have a right to choose how to distribute it. That includes the right to negotiate store terms and reject stores that don’t pay them adequately.

But that’s a catch-22. Game developers can’t make a living on Linux because there’s not enough Linux usage, and there’s not enough Linux usage because there’s not enough games. In the marketplace of platforms, the *only* way to send a message is to take your business elsewhere.

I see where you are coming from with this argument and I agree that the marketshare is certainly in PC, and that rights ought to be fought for those mainstream platforms; however, I can see people misinterpreting this as a reason given not to cultivate appropriate growth in Linux
-
The majority of the market share is on Mobile. PC and Console are already the minority. Linux as a subset isn't even measurable in comparison.

Isn't this a misunderstandment? I think no one in their right mind would ask devs to abandon all platforms except Linux. It's rather asking for additional Linux support, so users have the option to switch if they're fed up with other platforms.
-
Also, so users who only have Linux PCs can use the software.

And also shape tomorrows - otherwise you will never have an option to move.

What do you think of using
#WebGL to try to unify platforms? In my opinion, if you join#PWA and#IndexedDB, they can be very valid for certain types of games, quite a lot I think, as inconvenient there are the limitations of browsers

Making friends is wiser than making enemies. Linux is always beign there, and it's here to stay. You can focus on the bad things, OR in the good things. Google and Steam are investing millions on it. Maybe there's a good reason for it.
