Yes, now and for some years Valve had no need for exclusive deals, but they did in their early days. And yes, there are other deals that were made, but I can't prove them since I only know about them due to clients I have in my datacenter that have been developers for decades.

Will the resulting 18% increase in developer and publisher revenue benefit gamers? Such gains are generally split among (1) reinvestment, (2) profit, and (3) price reduction. The more games are competing with each other, the more likely the proceeds are to go to (1) and (3).

So I believe this approach passes the test of ultimately benefitting gamers after game storefronts have rebalanced and developers have reinvested more of their fruits of their labor into creation rather than taxation.

Would Steam be what it is today with that revenue split since inception? Do you honestly believe that PC gaming stores and ecosystems benefit from an 88/12 split, how?

The problem is that this better cut for devs is only beneficial for devs. Better prices for gamers? Show me. What about regional prices? You are asking for the same prince in euros in Spain, a country down in a job crisis that in germany.

That would be more plausible if the Epic Game Store actually had features. You can't talk about improvement like that when the EGS is far behind Steam and really only has "Free" Games, Exclusives, and Fortnite Money to keep it propped up.

The only thing your succeeding to do is divide the community and ruin the experience of many gamers. All while being backed by one of the most controlling nightmare companies out there who are backed by a country that has one of the worst records of human rights abuses ever.

You already know that 12% is unsustainable. Hence why you charge customers processing fees and are not bleeding money. Thanks to the Fortnite player base shrinking and you making enemies of all PC gamers, the Epic store should be gone within a year.
-
Not entirely true, it charges extra if you pay with services that have extra transaction fees attached The difference is that for 12% to be sustainable those extra fees can no longer cut into the store's revenue Meaning that in steam the devs pay that extra on *every purchase*
