The point is, if Valve struck an exclusive deal before, just how many other times did they do that over the years?

The 30% store tax usually exceeds the entire profits of the developer who built the game that’s sold. This is a disastrous situation for developers and publishers alike, so I believe the strategy of exclusives is proportionate to the problem.

If the Epic strategy either succeeds in building a second major storefront for PC games with an 88/12 revenue split, or even just leads other stores to significantly improve their terms, the result will be a major wave of reinvestment in game development and a lowering of costs.

I, as a gamer do not see the benefit. I have far to many Launchers as it is and now if I want certain games IE Borderlands 3 I have to install yet another. Even though the rest of my collection of that game is in Steam. I am fine with choice, but forcing me is not choice.

The fact that you do not see the benefit is why it *can't* be a choice Just let the gaming industry grow into a healthier direction, your benefits will come, either in the way of better products or reduced prices Also, your favorite developers will survive for longer
