Here’s an example of activist journalism done right. The writer takes his editorial flamethrower to Epic and the industry at large, while including complete primary source material. This arms the reader with facts and opinions from which to form an independent judgment.https://twitter.com/TheChrisWray/status/1142219471043670016 …

Yet if he was criticising you, you wouldn’t tweet it. Just like you never respond to me when I critise you or ask for reasons like why hire a Linux developer to get your windows app working on wine when they could just port the app instead. #bollocks

We like the idea of investing in Wine because it would enable all PC developers to achieve Linux compatibility with a small amount of additional testing work, rather than a large amount of porting and maintenance work.

The limiting factor for all game developers supporting Linux is either money or engineering time. Wine has the opportunity to reduce both by 5x-10x, by moving the burden of compatibility from 1000’s of separate game teams to one emulator team.

Exactly, we are really trying to play fortnite or other epic games' games but at each update the community has to work really hard to accomplish compatibility with wine/dxvk, etc... And then, if it ever works, we are sometimes banned for not playing on a standard platform.

The missing link here is a Linux anti-cheat solution that bridges successfully to WINE/Proton to provide anticheat for emulated win32 apps. This is something we’re investigating, but it’s not a quick task.

But wasn’t there a Linux anti cheat system which recently got pulled?

No, that was a misleading article. The Easy Anti Cheat team is continuing to work on Linux support. Native support is in a beta state and works for some games, however we’re quite a ways from the ideal of a WINE/Proton solution for emulated games.

-you want Fortnite to stay afloat you better do something. Relying on third party software is useless because you never know what could happen to it. There might be an accidental update which will completely break all of the hard work of trying to ''port'' the game to Linux.

Thanks for answering, I can really believe it is not an easy and quick task. Although, VAC works well on Linux.
