The wrinkle is that Steam bundles a community ecosystem together with a storefront and 30% tax. So Epic’s robust competition for developers and publishers with 12% and exclusives can be misread as an attack on the Steam community, though we’re only contesting for the storefront.

And I'm not on board with a company with extra money to throw around strong-arming consumers into using their inferior product if they want access to a game for the first 6-12 months. This is why gamers still like Valve and don't like Epic.
-
TIL, Strong arming is a pro consumer tactic, that devs seemingly back Tim Sweeney up for. Good to know that.

If only you cared about consumers as much you care about developers. You seemed to have forgotten we are part of the math. You could have made a store that encouraged us to use it ,not force. I'll be buying 2077 from GOG for example. I have the option to buy on steam but I won't.
-
CP2077 ain't even available for Preorder on Epic right now. Either Epic games are having a tantrum that CDPR doesn't want to sign an exclusive deal, or they don't want to be humiliated by the sales figures on GOG/Steam VS their store.

And with that kind of Revenue made off of 2mil copies it would easily fall under steams NEW POLICY(how many times do I have to bring this up) and it will be an 80/20 split.

While still paying 30% and 25% for the first 50 million, and then paying 20% for any sales made after 50 million, and yet 20% is still higher than 12%. Plus Valve's new tier system is a slap in the face to the indie developers.

Why put it on epic games when itchio offers a platform with 0% alternative???

Let's hope developers see that having 70% from a 30% charging storefront is better than getting 0% of a 12% charging storefront. and that the right thing to do is sell everywhere and let consumers decide. I'm here playing the games anyway, ones that i'd be happy to pay for.

What happens if Steam goes down to 12%? You lied about how Metro Exodus will be the last game with the exclusivity deal. yet the exclusivity deal continues to this day. How do we know if you're telling the truth about releasing the games onto Steam if they back down to 12%?

And that 12% alternative will consistently come up shorter than they would have made on steam otherwise. Its fine to get games on your platform, but this exclusivity stuff is dumb. All it does is push me to buy the console version (aka that other 30% tax)
