My wife says I spend all day programming Godot and that I need a hobby (It used to be Godot, but it's now my main job
), so I made myself a sequencer in a few days over the course of last year, this way I can make music again. It's free and open source!

I remember being blown away that Unreal used tracker music, wondering why so few games at the time did this..

Tracker music would be perfect for tiny web games even today. Can encode hours of music into a few dozen KB. Another interesting approach is driving an 8-bit sound chip emulator (SID or AY-3-8910), or even a "fantasy" sound-chip emulator from "modern" high-level code.
