What is your preferred platform to play games on?

EA and Activision keep 88%+ of the revenue from their PC games, after the costs of operating their stores. To demand that Epic, 2K, THQ Nordic, and others forego exclusivity and distribute through Steam is to demand they give 18% of their revenue to a near monopoly store.
-
So they’d prefer to limit their options then? “hey guys let’s cut out the largest platform in PC gaming because Tim’s a real good guy.”. You’re the one forcing the exclusivity. Leave them the option to distribute across vendors and see if your service comes out on top.

Only they're not exclusive. If they where they wouldn't be released on console as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo aren't owned or invested by Epic. It's literally just Steam and GOG users that are getting the shaft.
-
Which is why any game that goes with your bribes I'll be picking up on console so that I can avoid using your borken, halfassed, lazy store.

Of course there's a difference. First party exclusive means you were included in the making of the game, without it the game wouldnt happen, or would be too different But that's not the case here. You're not helping the outer worlds or borderlands 3. They are the same as before

Then they wouldnt publish the games on consoles, since they also take a 30% cut; and steam is more than justified, since the epic store is objectively a problem, security issues, bans for buying multiple games in succession due to a lack of a shopping cart, etc.

Luckily with the news from Microsoft today it appears a group of companies (Microsoft and Valve) have decided it’s in their economic interest to help Epic Game creep closer and closer to irrelevance. Good riddance.

It's interesting, that there are a lot of companies that are actively avoiding to go with your exclusives shit & give customers options, like Bethesda, CDPR or Paradox. In your logic, they all act against their essential economic interest. How is this?

Well, and Microsoft (!): https://www.vg247.com/2019/05/30/gears-5-steam-20-microsoft-games/ … "... the intent is to make its Xbox Game Studios PC games available to a wider range of players, and providing a choice to where the titles are purchased". The only monopoly I can see here is Epic's exclusives.

Nope.People are just going to you because you're paying millions of dollars up front. Steam, even while taking 8 to 18% more(something you seem to ignore, saying it's always 18% more) still gives developers more profit overall as steam offers more features, attracting more people
