Hey @TimSweeneyEpic, I have to ask: when you started Epic Megagames... why? What did you feel its purpose was? Did that "why" ever change? If so, when? Today, what purpose do you see @EpicGames having? Also, thanks for buying up NC woodlands for conservation, I respect that.

A subtext of this is that "everyone makes games" was part of the initial impetus, and cutting edge 3D tech was a later enhancement on that. The content tools were not an afterthought once cutting edge tech was achieved. They came first by a generation or two.

Created my first ZZT games in 1991 (still have my 5 1/2 registered ZZT floppies) and released a new game (first in about 20 years) a few months ago. Would back ZZT2 on kickstarter in a second!

Well it seems company in 1991 was known as Potomac PC Systems in 1992 renamed to Epic Mega Games located probably somewhere in California some guy retired so since 1998 company was finally renamed to Epic Games and they moved to North Carolina genesis in nutshell.

His name was John Mclellan he was former Epic Mega Games employee back then in late 90's he was involved in development of Jazz Jackrabbit 2. In 1998 Unreal series were very popular just like Fortnite Battle Royale nowadays.
