Regional pricing does not affect the Epic Games store’s 88/12 revenue share.

Tim I know your current strategy is to go after exclusives to get a foothold in the PC gaming landscape but is there a scenario that would see you rethink this? There is so much bad will toward Epic right now, wouldn't it be better to grow a store on customer value and community?

That’s a loaded question! But Epic will stay the course. 30% store dominance is the #1 problem for PC developers, publishers, and everyone who relies on those businesses for their livelihood. We’re determined to fix it and this is the one approach that will effect major change.

If Steam committed to a permanent 88% revenue share for all developers and publishers without major strings attached, Epic would hastily organize a retreat from exclusives (while honoring our partner commitments) and consider putting our own games on Steam.

the reason you're asking for that specific number is because you know it's a number that'll cause them to run in the red. like you're running in the red right now, it's why you already said this model is unsustainable. who do you think you're fooling?

Here’s what I said about store economics: https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1091025939109199879?s=20 … This led to a bunch of misleading assertions, such as: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/alv1l0/tim_sweeney_head_of_epic_games_admits_that_12/ … Please keep it real. A healthy discussion of store economics benefits everyone. Piling on with falsehoods only detracts.

Epic adds a payment processing fee to the high-overhead international payment methods marked with asterisks in the hyperlinked chart above because it’s the only practicable way to operate a 12% fee store in those developing countries. Why Valve takes 30% everywhere I do not know.

dude steam has much higher overhead then your store because they actually provide a real service. such as: https://pics.me.me/feature-steam-epic-games-store-cloud-saves-user-profiles-user-41250576.png … these features and infrastructure combined with the sheer mass of games they have create a significantly higher overhead that your store which is

barely a functional web page and that's being generous. 12% simply isn't high enough to operate a store with steam's size and service. you know full well that running at that cost will drive steam into the red, it's why you picked that number, at least own what you are.

Just as a bit of a more in depth explanation to completely dispel @TimSweeneyEpic's allegation that developer's make less profit than Valve on a game sold on @steam_games. Bottom line: My educated guess is that Valve makes 8% profit on a game sold on Steam. Let's break this down

That Mortiel guy has no idea what he is talking about and he is really bad at math. Check out my series of tweets to him where I show how wrong he is. I even use references to back up what I say. At the highest Valve is spending 8% on Steams services.
