That’s a loaded question! But Epic will stay the course. 30% store dominance is the #1 problem for PC developers, publishers, and everyone who relies on those businesses for their livelihood. We’re determined to fix it and this is the one approach that will effect major change.

"if you play the game on multiple platforms, stuff you’ve bought can be available everywhere" if that game is not yours, you can't do that. Ubisoft can do that(from Steam to Uplay), but it is for their own games

The best way to lead in this space is to release all the store code under a copyleft license like AGPLv3+. You'd get the hacker community behind you, and together our innovations would out accelerate the competition. Feel free to DM if you want to chat more! Happy to help.

@TimSweeneyEpic Again you seem to be attributing something that isn't down to a store mainly but to a publisher. You'd have to get Ubi,EA and others to agree on it, and then Sony and Microsoft.Other forms are already available though, like I believe Warframe. So whats your point? -
His point is that Valve is pretty powerful given their market dominant position as THE store for PC game sales nowadays (certainly in digital sales), so they could leverage that power to "encourage" publishers to get in line.
