Why did Activision, EA, and UbiSoft break away and build their own stores from scratch? Because it’s way more profitable to sell their games that way than to give 30% to a store.

Keep in mind, most of the other problems developers and publishers face (not all problems, but most) can be solved with money, and that extra 18% provides a very significant amount of new funding.

I was excited for the epic store when it was first announced because I thought breaking Steam's monopoly would be good for the PC community. But now I just want to see it fail. Instead of beating steam by creating a better platform you just limited peoples choice of platform.
