@TimSweeneyEpic I have a question. You say in the 12% cut you take, 5,5% is cost? How much would that cost increase if you added every single feature, and maintained them, that Steam has? Like cloud saves, streaming, achievements and so on. Could you still do 12%?

What this question should really ask is can/will the Epic store get enough purchases from the 12% cut to provide those features, not whether the 12% model is or is not sustainable. (I would also be concerned of rising server costs, etc. due to the store's increased usage.)

I think more questions should be asked and answered both of Epic and Steam. I think if this whole "war" is based on the cuts stores take, we should know the plans Epic has for features and what extra cost they would be. An we should know the cost it takes to run Steam.

So managing cloud saves, providing streaming, and moderating user reviews and forums add no additional cost of service? I find that difficult to believe. As you would have to delegate people to these services. Now, you could maybe still do the 12% I don't know. Would need to see

You shouldn't, because that isn't what he said. He did not say it adds no additional cost, he stated it doesn't add to the costs significantly.

And that's why you charge 5% for the Unreal Engine on other platforms? That's also just a one-time cost for development. Why don't you sell a license to devs for a flat fee?
