Ive seen no evidence to suggest Valve deserves a publishers cut unless theyre the publisher!

That helps make YOUR game accessible to people who aren't fortunate enough to have a major currency as their country's currency. Take the costs of that, added to the cost of online storage, and the cost to run the servers, to have download servers, and it figures to a lot.

My game isnt going to be for everyone, accessibility typically tends to be staggered especially for indies as we cant localise to every language on initial release. Valves features do very little except for extra work in support for devs, less exposure too thx to $100 direct.

Do you really believe releasing a title on a platform completely surrounded by controversy is going to help the game get exposure? Not that Steam would help expose your game, but Epic's store should be a no go for the time being.

Considering the controversy is largely fabricated... Valve has done some for PC gaming but putting them on a pedestal for just being there when no one else was is weak. Theyve used the same lootbox mechanics as EA has and support third party gambling sites through their API.

Epic literally blamed PC players years ago, and yes it was Tim that said this, for their games not performing well and even went as far to call most of PC players pirates and literally casted aside PC gaming until Fortnite.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/epic-games-on-why-it-favoured-consoles-over-pcs-in-the-past-and-the-current-battle-between-pc-vs-consoles/ … & https://www.neowin.net/news/pc-piracy-drove-us-to-consoles-says-epic-games/ … (The one above wasn't you but it was your company's president at the time) & https://techcrunch.com/2010/05/18/epic-games-says-something-silly-about-piracy/ … I retract the part that you demonized the PC playerbase, because you didn't. Mike Kapps did. Though he was part of your company

Furthermore, there are more articles that highlight your company's giddiness to blame piracy for poor pc sales and in turn blaming the PC playerbase.(Or if you would, that being a blanket statement that generalized the PC community at the time as all being pirates)

But, again, you yourself did not speak out at the time, while Mike Kapps. So I apologize for pinning the blame of that on you as a single person, but it is still undeniable that your company cast aside the PC playerbase as they blamed poor sales on piracy, and not on poor ports.
