Solid thread from @TimSweeneyEpic on nonsense conspiracy theories. I've known Tim since 1991 and he has the most integrity and vision of anyone I've ever known in the industry. You want him on your side. He's an Avenger.https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1113963223517138949 …

What exactly did I say in 2008 or 2009 exactly? Please cite the source. I certainly didn’t say “PC gaming is dying”. I did comment on the woes of piracy.

Altough not WORD BY WORD, your intent was that PC gaming was dying, that's what people get from when they read sentences like this one. ''But at the end of the day, consoles have definitely left PC games behind.''https://news.softpedia.com/news/Tim-Sweeney-Says-the-PC-Is-Dead-for-Games-80714.shtml …

The headline is editorializing (not my words) but I stand by what I did say then. Those were dark days for PC, after BitTorrent had grown huge and before Steam was mainstream. Crytek has reportedly shipped a game that sold 1 copy per each 100 people playing!

is that why developers used to treat pc gamers with such disrespect? calling us all pirates, giving us really bad console ports etc

“Here's the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software.”

That’s Cliff’s actual statement above. It was certainly true in 2009, after the rise of BitTorrent, before Steam gained mainstream traction.

i'll be honest i used to use bittorrent back then but it was out of spite...if it was a bad pc port i pirated it if it was a good port i bought it...it was a nice weapon for the consumer to use against developers and publishers that didn't care about us
