I kinda agree it seems that way. I dont know Tim but whats going on with pc platform isnt good, its really stirring a lot of shit up. I expect it to get more locked down content wars.

PC even with a Steam monopoly where we had GOG and Humble and GreenMan and a thousand other companies to choose from was better off six months ago than it is now. PC gaming now feels like the goddamn cold war.

I like how i never heard steam fanboy before all of this lol. I personally hope it doesnt get content blocked, if im a steam user with 700 games i dont want to use another store for a game or have to wait 6 months to get it on steam. Doesnt seem “open” at all

That's the thing. I believe we should have the freedom to choose. Even with the way the revenue structures are we all agree those need to change. If Epic wanted to be at the forefront and make that a big message I would be celebrating that. As long as they did it in their lane

What’s more fundamental, though? Developer freedom to choose which stores to sell on, or customer freedom to buy any product at any store? The first derives from the developer’s creative freedom and ownership of the works they create.

The “right to buy any product at any store” isn’t a principle of any known philosophy or economic theory. And it would directly contradict developer freedom, by forcing creators to sell their works through stores against their will, regardless of store terms.

Steam’s 30% cut versus Epic’s 12% cut is just one point on the spectrum. What if another store took 50%? Should developers have to sell through that store too? What about 90%?

You keep deflecting, like purposefully dodging the point. It's not that they HAVE to sell thru anywhere. It's that when you're buying exclusives away from anywhere else, you are making them HAVE to sell thru only you.

In all of these cases, the developers and publishers have chosen to release exclusively with Epic because we made them a better deal than they felt they could get by releasing everywhere.

Surely if it’s okay for EA to release their own games exclusively through their store, then it’s also okay for developers, publishers, and Epic to collaboratively release their games that way, by exchanging things of value to make it mutually beneficial.

If exclusivity is okay for EA but not okay for a coalition of stores, developers, and publishers working together (as with Epic-2K-Gearbox are doing here), then EA has a special economic privelege that independent companies are denied, putting them at the mercy of 30% stores.

Two lemonde stands. 1 had nicer glasses the other is cheaper. The cheaper one start buying the rights to all the lemons. The first store no longer has lemonade to sell due the cheaper store. This is a trust. This is what you're trying to do.

Again, your acting as if, that if they also publish on steam they can't publish on epic. I want them to be on both then I'd want to buy on epic because of the split. I don't understand your line of thinking man. EA is buying in 3rd parties. They do it with first party games.

EA does exclusives with their own first party games. Same for Blizzard and Bethesda. You can only use that if you had Gears of War or something exclusive to your launcher. That makes sense. Not 3rd party games where you are the only one making offers for exclusivity

Another thing I want to touch on because this is flawed. Your store exists. Discord exists. They wouldn't be at the mercy cause your store exists. Water seeks it's level. If your store is an option they'll find you. And where is the customer benefit? Games on Epic, same price

I wonder how you made it with Fortnite through the 30% standard on Sony,MS,Nintendo,Apple & Google? And all of a sudden only Steam is the bad guy here? The only point you have is it's direct competition to your "store" & you just can't compete on any level with your shitty service.
