Wouldn't it be nice on NTFS if changes to files were reflected in the modification time of their parent directories?

ZFS was architected to work like that which is awesome. It's not quite managed to become a mainstream FS though for some reason

It was pretty resource heavy when it first came out, and took a long time to be a 1st class citizen on FreeBSD.
