Epic’s goal isn’t to hurt Steam. It’s to bring gamers into our store and services and give them a better deal. Whether this hurts Steam or ultimately makes Valve a more effective competitor is up to them much more than us.

How does excluding legit 3rd party keysellers from selling a game (see Division 2) factor into giving us better deals? Admittedly I'm not a billionaire so what do I know but none of this adds up. Well it kinda does, to a big pile of bullshit.

We’re eager to support reputable digital stores. Already started with Humble. More to come.https://www.pcmag.com/news/367297/epic-games-store-titles-including-exclusives-headed-to-hum …

Not sure why the Humble Store announcement didn’t make it to r/pcgaming.

Can you imagine not checking a megathread about you, and then falsely stating that your "news" didn't make it?

Hmm, so a megathread to consolidate the positive news, and dozens of separate articles for each grievance? Doesn't seem right, as the first sentence of the mod's MegaThread post is: "Please keep all news, comments and concerns about the Epic Games Store in this post."

Or are you saying that a handful of moderators should be deleting posts left and right from thousands and thousands of people and also throwing them into a mega-thread? You sound extremely tone-deaf. And I'm not even a moderator.

I support free speech and open debate, things which are greatly hampered by the megathread quarantines and downvoting of minority opinions to the point of invisibility. These techniques create echo chambers, not healthy forums for discourse.

The megathread isn't quarantining anything. Both opinions of Epic can be found in it. It is quite literally just a single spot to look for the articles themselves instead of looking all over the place for just one thing.

If you go through these threads, and click “show comments” on the hidden (downvoted) ones, nearly all represent the minority opinion, and hiding correlates much more with the opinion expressed than the quality of the argument in the post.
