This, @TimSweeneyEpic: we do get competition might make things better, but not in the way you're doing it. Also, you don't consider other countries in the same way Steam does (and I frankly think you don't even care). Also, "gamers don't see" is incredibly condescending.https://twitter.com/YongYea/status/1109976390538018816 …

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says that "gamers don't see" that Epic Games Store is making the industry better. Actually, we do see its potential to be a great competitor to Steam, we just think you're going about it in the most frustrating way. https://youtu.be/fUUpN0xMGAE

Full quote: "Ultimately, this is about making the industry a better place, starting with the terms available for developers. I understand gamers don't see that. They don't see the hardship of making a payroll and seeing the store suck out 30% of the revenue from it.”

If it's about making things better, why do you need to buy exclusives? Shouldn't the profit share be enough to entice publishers and devs? Instead of trying to force things, why are you just not focused on making the store better for everyone? Gamers included?

We're working on lots of features, but what store features would be so awesome that you'd move to a new store on account of those features?

Those decisions to list games on Steam came before the devs or pubs were aware of the opportunity with Epic. We wouldn’t encourage Steam listing as a strategy but remain open to working with any great devs independent of their previous distribution plans.

It’s up to each developer and publisher to market their game as they choose and to make these core distribution decisions. Epic would never take a position like “if you mention your game on Steam, we won’t consider it”.
