You can make arguments for (and against) both of those things. But please explain how one relates to the other, besides both being manifestations of Apple having chosen to build a curated platform and to opt against using it as a way to sell ads?

Platform security doesn’t depend on a monopoly store deciding what apps users are allowed to install. iOS’s security comes from a secure kernel and user permissions-based access controls. iOS would remain equally secure as an open platform.
