We could grow trees to absorb the carbon dioxide for free, then bury them in an anaerobic environment to prevent decomposition, such as a coastal swamp where sea level is rising.

The ideal solution is to perform the transformation in high atmospheric carbon areas where there is also cheap renewable energy. If you’re absolutely determined to perform carbon sequestration this way.

We could, for instance, install large solar farms side by side with "carbon collection centers" in remote areas, such as deserts, from where it's really hard to transfer the energy to more densely inhabited areas but where there's plenty of sunshine
