So @TimSweeneyEpic... Are exclusives ok now if they benefit you? https://www.pcgamer.com/epic-ceo-tim-sweeney-pummels-microsofts-uwp-initiative/ … Or are you going to keep pretending you were talking about something different?

There I am criticizing Microsoft “curtailing users’ freedom to install full-featured PC software, and subverting the rights of developers and publishers to maintain a direct relationship with their customers”, not exclusives.

The whole thesis here is that stores should be free to compete, and gamers and developers should be free to use stores of their choosing, which is exactly what is happening here today.

I wanted to buy Metro Exodus on steam, which it was advertised to be released on. However someone didn't want me to, which must mean it was the developer, who got paid by you to do it. Which must mean you didn't want me to buy it where I wanted to. Which means you are a liar.

This is the result of stores competing for developers. Despite an early lead and being the presumed winner, Valve ultimately lost the competition for Metro Exodus, because they offered the developer a worse deal than Epic.

Well yeah, you can't beat "Paying developpers to remove their games from elsewhere". You know it's not a sustainable model and is one akin to marketing. They didn't remove their game for a year because of your cut. But because you paid them to.

Paying developers more money sooner enables them to fund new and better games sooner, compared to earning 18% less, later.

Are the up front payments like what Coffee Stain received going to be a permanent feature of the Epic store for all users(studios) and not just a limited, targeted push to shore up your store launch?

These funding and revenue guarantee deals are targeted at specific games and aren’t part of the general terms of the store.

I am sorry but I never heard of a developer team going bankrupt because of Steam cut or not being able to develope a new game. I don't mind that M:E is on the Epic store but as a consumer I want the freedom of choice in terms of platform.

More expensive games = less money to spend on other games. This is what your store exclusivity brings. Before your bullshit, I could buy Metro Exodus down to 45€ on Authorized stores such as Razer Game Store or GreenManGaming. Now it's 60€. 15€ is the price of an indie game !!

You just want to create another monopoly for yourself by buying games off other store 🤔

Also, getting 70% of 500k sales is better than 88% of 100k sales. Which is why you're moneyhatting Tim: Because you know your store sucks since 12% isn't enough to make features for it. So you FORCE customers into it by paying games instead.

That is honestly one of the worst takes on the industry I've ever seen, and I can't believe your the CEO. You're playing off instant gratification on new indie developers and AAA studios so they can get paid earlier to satisfy their investors not their customers.

You have the very same mindset Microsoft had with GFWL. You're basically working toward more closed PC gaming with your store. You're totally contradicting yourself at every turns.
