A big Reddit discussion on stores, launchers, exclusives, and data practices (with a couple new posts from me on the Epic Games store): https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/a9lntx/ubisoft_needs_to_stop_with_this_always_online/eckm02v/?sort=new …

Gamers aren't going to abandon their fav watering holes. It's why, for example, in the era of Discord, Reddit & 4Chan are still a thing. N stores + N forums isn't the problem. Moderation is. As I stated in my pinned thread, removing the ability to review games is not a solution

@galyonkin also mentioned this. The issue with that is, features don't make it any less a forum. Nobody is making an "old fashioned" message board. And adding those features is inconsequential because it won't solve the problem of moderationhttps://twitter.com/galyonkin/status/1084877056456957957 … - 22 more replies

I fully support the Epic Store. That said, I don't think Reddit is useful for game reviews, except maybe on launch day when they aggregate review scores. Steam reviews are mostly very useful, but unfortunately sometimes abused :(
-
I almost always disagree with Steam reviews unfortunately. The masses are highly susceptible to group think and circlejerking over minor stuff. The only games that have really good Steam Reviews are, in my opinion, really boring and terrible games that don't take any risks.

No it wouldn't since they'd share with other platforms troubleshooting and such. It's been a while since you played on PC and it shows. Instead of using dedicated game forums I can access in a click, you want me to go far away in a board that isnt dedicated to it

Right, like Reddit, or perhaps, I dunno.. the Steam forums? Gotta admit, that's a great way to shirk the burden of providing feature parity. Just have people use the free functionality offered by your competitor!

I have to agree with this Tim on this. I have been buying mostly from GoG for years, but I will still use the forums on Steam even for games I bought on GoG, and I get called a pirate because I don't have the mouse icon, or told I have no right to be there.

General place for forums with no bias towards a store would help a lot in getting rid of some of the toxicity.
