I’ve been following this very closely and understand that people who prefer to buy games on Steam prefer not to deal with a second store. But developers will never escape Steam’s 300% to 500% markup on operating costs if all games are on Steam at equal prices.

If it's a small fraction of transactions, wouldn't the impact from covering them be small? Not sure what direction would be optimal (cutting into your margins or the developers), if at all. It is definitely a delicate situation.

However, I do think making these costs visible to the consumer is very valuable, especially when they have to realize them first hand. It is the first step to getting rid of these ridiculous fees or at least give an incentive to find alternative, fairer methods.

You are part a multi billion dollar company, you making excuses for charging developing counties rings hollow.

As a person living in one of those developing countries all I could say is, your loss. And I hope your store fails.

"are a small fraction of overall transactions", You could add a fucking shopping cart so I, the underdeveloped citizen, could pay it just one time instead of multiple times for multiple purchases. You're not helping, Tim.
