Is there a consumer right to buy any product in any store of your choosing? Do we have the right to buy a Toyota at a Ford dealer? A Whopper at McDonalds? No; stores compete on selection as well as price and features.

Epic didn't create Metro Exodus. Illogical comparison. Tim, have you been following the news? Are you fully aware of what's going on with the Epic Games launcher? Do you make these decisions, or is it the suits? You're coming off as being a little out of the loop.

I’ve been following this very closely and understand that people who prefer to buy games on Steam prefer not to deal with a second store. But developers will never escape Steam’s 300% to 500% markup on operating costs if all games are on Steam at equal prices.

Then buy the studio, assume the risk, and earn the right make it an exclusive legitimately. Don't come in at the end of development and cut a cheque. We need a worthy competitor to Steam. But this is just a unsettling preview of what the 'Store Wars' [coined] could become.

I think this argument has some small amount of merit. You're complaining about minor pain now for consumers in exchange for major benefit for devs. And in the future it will probably benefit everyone, not just devs. For devs: all good. For gamers: ends justify means?

The extra headroom for game studios will allow: more games to be made, or game devs to be paid more, or fancier games to be made at same price point, or studio executives to line their pockets. It will be a combo of the 4, and so consumers will probably benefit eventually.

But priority this over that don't bring good result either Developer indeed have merit form it But what about consumer stand point of view? Why does people refuse to use Epic store? Have you guys ever put yourselves into consumers shoes? Or just think from a devs point of view

The question is whether you believe a minor inconvenience for gamers today is worth it in exchange for massive benefit to game developers and long term benefit for the gamers themselves once the extra earned revenue can be used to make better or cheaper games.

Unbalanced prospective.

Yeah I think you made a great point that the best way to obtain exclusivity without causing any harm is to fund new exclusive content. But I do think that using a second storefront is not more than a minor inconvenience to current gamers. Hence why Fortnite could be a success.

We’re investing in lots of interesting things over different time scales, and the longer-term ones will have a lot more opportunity for polish as we build more store and online feature and have longer time spans to collaborate with developers.
