Did Unity just prohibit all cloud-hosted multiplayer games? You couldn’t operate Fortnite, PUBG, or Rocket League under these terms.pic.twitter.com/NXy6yjS5ni

Thus if we take the ToS at its most obvious meaning, all Unity games in active distribution everywhere are in legal limbo, because their list of approved services includes no stores. And it’s hard to dismiss as a drafting error, as Unity just revoked access to a key SDK supplier.
Unity could very easily refute all of these concerns, by simply deleting section 2.4 of the Terms of Service.
It’s that easy. Problem solved, customers reassured, and I’m proven to be an alarmist huckster and whatever other things the folks in this thread are calling me.
Yeah, it definitely means clarification and I certainly hope that is not the intent. My understanding is their SDK made it considered a "platform" instead of a hosting service, streaming site, or store / marketplace. If that makes sense. It is difficult to articulate. Haha
The business implications of “Unity + SDK = new platform requiring permission” are colossal, though! That means no Steamworks, no AWS server-side SDKs, no GameSparks SDKs, no Epic Games Service APIs, no friends support, no chat, no matchmaking...
Yeah, I know what you mean but I still think that those are very different things. Even though you might use the same words to refer to them and that's why this TOS is so hard to write properly. Steam's integration of friends list and stuff does not equal using the unity run time
To sell a product to help you create online games. I'm having a hard time figuring out where the line is or how to refer to this stuff but I just feel what they are offering justifies compensation not just the unity but also to you guys
