Did Unity just prohibit all cloud-hosted multiplayer games? You couldn’t operate Fortnite, PUBG, or Rocket League under these terms.pic.twitter.com/NXy6yjS5ni

Joachim Ante’s clarification only stated that it’s okay to for Unity devs to run Unity server-side on generic hosting services like AWS. There was no statement that server-side SDKs or distribution through stores is okay.
Thus if we take the ToS at its most obvious meaning, all Unity games in active distribution everywhere are in legal limbo, because their list of approved services includes no stores. And it’s hard to dismiss as a drafting error, as Unity just revoked access to a key SDK supplier.
Of course panic and stress can be justified, but I think this was premature. They should have reached out to Unity and asked WTF? before telling their developers their games were going down.
I understand what you are saying. It def needs clarification and I truly hope that that was not the intent. I just think there is a big difference between a developer hosting their game server in the cloud, or streaming it, or selling it on GoG and what Improbable was offering
And don't get me wrong, SpatialOS is awesome. But I do think a product like that that is so intangled into the runtime justifies and would benefit from a close relationship and monetary compensation. Same goes for you guys.
You've been called names? Sorry to hear that. I for one love for work. It seems to me that most the blame and attacks have been directed at Unity and I think that's premature at best. #Delete2_4 haha
