Haha, actually though I first heard of this controversy at 1pm, Herman @ Improbable and I agreed on the fund at 6pm, live edited the announcement in Google docs till 7:30pm, released at 8pm.

Many comments from here and the blog post sound like people reading it for the first time and misinterpreting parts of it. (Mostly the confusion between "Unity Software", "Project content" and "runtime") Ironically, reading EULA is usually not an easy task for End-users.

A proprietary technology engaging in anti-competitive behavior? Is this news? That's the MO of most proprietary technologies. Where I thought unity was different is its developer focus and tendency towards interoperability. So in that sense this is surprising.
