I'm sorry. I should've just said "required who knows what". I don't know whether there were any fees involved. From reading the blog, it seems clear to me like Unity wants "something" from their partners. Something that Improbable didn't want to hand over. What that is? No idea.

I assume the details of said partnership are all secret. If not, we'll hear about it. I do agree that such secrecy would make me (as a learning dev) hesitate to use such a product. Thousands upon thousands of hours are invested into learning everything about an engine, after all.
