Yeah, this generally feels tough to retrofit into C++. Because one obvious "simple" thing I would want is "don't let this function access named global variables" but then I might want to exempt things like calling printf in that context...

But maybe it's worth trying a few trivial things to see if they're useful? For the pattern for( int x : vec ) it doesn't immediately seem problematic to say that within that scope, the reference to 'vec' is const?

Which is why you chunk the work so you can apply local reasoning. Compose those chunks to solve larger problems. And repeat to make your full correct program.
