Many stores competing with each other to provide developers with benefits in exchange for access to their games is an example of healthy competition. For a hardware company to block access to competing stores is the opposite.

While it’s more convenient to have just one place to download everything, if the industry allows that then the one monopoly store will grow to suck more and more of the revenue away from game developers. E.g. look at Apple, which takes 30%, then tries to get another 20% via ads.
