Aras, do it! It’s very unfortunate for new programmers coming into C++ to have the impression that they should actually use these standard library abominations in engineering practice.

@JoshuaBarczak I'm still a little salty over the fact that, in 10 years of consecutive committee meetings (2004-2014), I saw _zero_ representatives from the game dev industry, and only later found out they had multiple valid criticisms, but kept quiet outside of game dev silos.

If I had been asked, in 2014, "what do game developers think of C++?", my response would have been, "well, we haven't heard anything so... I guess no news is good news?"

Your information is out of date. There is a whole study group peopled with members of the games and HPC communities. Don't be fooled by this island of Twitter outrage. Many in the games industry are contributing to isoc++ and, shockingly, are happy with the direction.

SG14 is the C++ Committee’s “low latency / game dev / finance / simulation / embedded” study group. Mailing list is public: https://groups.google.com/a/isocpp.org/forum/m/#!forum/sg14 … It meets where its constituents are (GDC, CppCon, etc), and liaison folks bring SG14 recommendation to WG21 C++ Committee.

Just to be clear, that's just the Working Group of C++, SG14 is the Gaming Study Group of WG21. Recently they've been collaborating on Linear Algebra, an embedded C++ subset, and some work on static exceptions, a replacement for exceptions.
