A big Reddit discussion on stores, launchers, exclusives, and data practices (with a couple new posts from me on the Epic Games store): https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/a9lntx/ubisoft_needs_to_stop_with_this_always_online/eckm02v/?sort=new …

The pro-competitive result is: the developer got a better deal, which enables them to achieve some combination of lower prices and making more profit which they can reinvest in future development.

Players are ultimately going to prefer the immediate convenience of a single storefront over the long-term benefits that A) come from their $$$ going directly towards more game development and B) emerge from the competitive pressure you place on Steam. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_marshmallow_experiment …

How about not pay the dev. for exclusivity and let's dev decide which store they will choose by themselves? FYI,
@steam_games doesnt do that.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Steam is convenient for consumers, ya won't convince the masses to pack up 100's of game libraries to move over to your peace meal store, honestly with your exclusive plans all your doing is shoving another exclusive wedge in our OWN pc platforms, get enough of that with consoles

> Steam’s position is still “we take 30%, but you’re not allowed to sell your game for a lower price elsewhere”. Steam lost this deal. That's an interesting bit of information, and further explains the frustration in developers. ...still doesn't help with consumer frustration.

That's a lie. Witcher 3 was cheaper on GOG than on Steam, just to name an example. And
#MetroExodus costs the same on your store than it costed on Steam. So your argument is pointless anyway since Steam's alleged position could have been honored.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
