The four hard problems any Metaverse framework will have to solve are transactions, data persistence, code isolation, and forward compatible code evolution. And it will have to solve them at vast scales of concurrency. Nothing even remotely resembling this exists yet.

the internet has these issues for sure (DDOS attacks..). it's relatively robust though.

it's fundamentally an actor model, if you think about it. nodes send messages to each other and as long as they follow a protocol, interesting things happen. if they don't, they generally fail gracefully.

Sandboxing at both the network and especially the file level. There needs to be an api between the application and the "network" not the internet. An api has to be defined, maidsafe is probably the closest to finding the solution but its been over 10 years of work
