There is a thing where ppl do "liveness notices" where they for example update a timestamp in a README, just to keep people from assuming a project is dead because it's not had any commits in 3 years. It would be great if there were SOME metadata about eg "are issues being read"

Overall open source should more foreground and codify the social process that keep it running. Three years ago a code of conduct on an OSS project was unheard of, now it approaches expected. We could do more things along these lines

More and more lately I'm moving away from monoliths and into smaller npms. Partly because of these kinds of issues but mostly because I'm "old and slow."
