Programming language families. Still contemplating how the whole space could be covered nicely by a single, reasonably-straightforward language.pic.twitter.com/U4AsedwA51

Well! sounds like you should definitely check @nim_lang, cos it definitely can cover all in that list, if wanted, with ease.

Interesting.. Now if only someone invented a language that was async by default :)

More carefully, where's the category to which Prolog would belong?

Imagine if Tim had read this comic when deciding to create yet another AAA engine.

I'd rather have many small, specialized languages that can be combined easily in the same project, and maybe even same source files (sort of what emscripten is doing with embedding JS functions into C/C++ sources).

...and compilers for these small languages should preferably be so small that they're just a command line tools like others (e.g. texture exporters) and directly checked into the project, not some huge external GByte installation

Why should a Phillips screwdriver try to tighten a nut? Different tools. Until an AGI makes ‘em obsolete.

Combining yacc with sed and stomping it into the space of C/C++ seems to be like exploring biology with quantum mechanics. Different paradigms for different domains, plz. :)
