As a Windows C++ dev, I’d love to see a win64 API declared which updates to sizeof(int)=sizeof(void*), unsigned char, utf8 only (using new codepage), straight API declarations in one header per Windows DLL with no macro hackery.

Win32 and x64 were hardly API breaks. They were entirely new platforms at the time, and MS tried to make existing code as easy to port as possible. They haven't even deprecated Win32.

Rust (controversially) unshipped bare int and uint in favor of usize/isize for size_t and array indexing.
