Hi, we’re Apple. We believe in the future. And the future is USB-C. All of our laptops and desktops support it. In fact, our laptops only support it! Buy our next generation iPhone XS the most advanced smartphone on the market.* *ships with USB-A cable and 5W charger from 2007

Android ships with both C to C and A to C

this is exactly what apple should be doing in all their $749 and up ios devices, this and including a charger with both C and A connectors (like anker does) either 12W, 5W, whatever (although fast charging would be preferred obviously)

Wait. Isnt the end that you put in the car or hotel etc the same at all usb versions. Only the part that goes in the phone not? So that wouldn't cause incompatibility issues with cars and hotels?

At some point the leap has to be made though. Whether that starts with a pro device like the higher end iPad's is a different story, but let's start somewhere.

What they should do, for as much as these phones cost, is include both/a dongle. However that isn’t “simple” or “elegant” and it costs slightly more so they don’t. Then they do make a lot selling them separately for a lot of money too.

USB-A on chargers remains a thing because chargers are large and not ever getting smaller. so there is literally no need to change it. with time it may change for simplicity, but for now the legacy value outweighs the zero negative value

Except that USB-C supports rapid charging and USB-A does not. Even on current-gen iPhone.

If that's the reason.. Why they ditched the 3.5mm jack?
