@EpicGames wasn't really happy with the details of his #vulnerability being made public. @TimSweeneyEpic opines that #Google should have waited longer before revealing details of the “man-in-the-disk” (#MITM) security hole. Do you agree? | By @gcluleyhttps://www.grahamcluley.com/fortnite-fury-over-how-google-handled-its-huge-security-hole/ …

From the way it sounds to an average Fortnite player, it sounds like Google was a tiiiiny bit salty that Fortnite dodged the Google play store. I know that they have a whole bug disclosure policy, but Google should've respected Epic's wishes.

No : Use the Google ecosystem, or expect them to publish the vulnerabilities to protect Android users. @TimSweenyEpicc is wrong here.

The word punishment is very appropriate here, but how does rapidly disclosing the technical details of a security flaw to hackers do anything to protect Android users?

Because now I know I need to load up the game and update it or delete the app. Any of the players who just tried out Fortnite would have been exposed.

Yes, telling users that a flaw was found and advising updating is valuable. But, again, why did Google have to rapidly disclose the technical details? Who does that help, other than hackers?

Google followed the process they follow for everyone else. I think that's fair enough. It helps the users, making them aware of the potential risks and what they should do to resolve it. Giving 90 days notice means users could go blissfully unaware of potential malware infection.

It would also just extend the length of time for someone else to come across the vulnerability while the users don't know it exists. Google won't be the only ones looking for things like this. Miscreants would be looking for the same things day in and day out, no doubt.

Sorry did you forget you have made statements about other companys and there shit - 'Microsoft would systematically modify Windows so as to make Steam work worse and worse' yet you dont like it when your comapny gets called out, its simple - you're greedy end of.

That’s fair I guess, looks like a rethink of their policies wouldn’t hurt anyone. Although in the week between then and now, Epic games has released no information there is a flaw and that people should update their apps.
