My definition: On an open platform, users are free install software from any source they choose, and developers are free to reach users and engage in commerce directly.

Android Oreo replaced the default-off “unknown sources” setting with an install-time popup for each app wants permission to install software. This is awesome for user freedom, security, and ease of use.

It's odd to talk about open platforms and ignore the most open one there is. Sure, it's a much smaller audience, but for that to change we need more big games. Releasing Fortnite there would set a great example to other devs for supporting an open platform.

Definitely! Especially with software like Samsung Knox and SafteyNet running on top of Android Oreo. It's really amazing what an open platform can do!
