This article is misleading. You make it sound like websites are auto-sideloading APKs without the users' consent--but you still have to manually install them. @TimSweeneyEpic's instructions just tell people to manually install APKs w/o an app store, at the user's discretion.

Same also applies to Firefox, which by default doesn't allow you to open APKs from its download manager—whereupon you must enable that, and then still have to click "Install" in another dialog to install an APK. The gate-keeping is always in the user's hands.
