I very much agree with what @TimSweeneyEpic is trying to do here but I don't think that negates the security risk -- one which @Google may also need to answer for? cc @lockheimer

My question is, does the average person interested in Fortnite know how to enable the "unknown sources" tab? And if they do, do they understand the risk involved with activating it?

A "download" button is coming to http://Fortnite.com . On the latest Android Oreo devices, this goes directly to a download link which installs the game following user acceptance of several security prompts - no "unknown sources" involved.

On earlier Android versions, the button goes to a page with instructions on enabling "unknown sources" followed by a download button, which only works once that's enabled.

There can be no doubt that lots of malware will end up being distributed in bootleg Fortnite APKs.

Also, this is worse than just risking the introduction of malware via a Fortnite APK. It's one thing for adult Android geeks/power-users to side-load APKs, it's another thing to *train* many, many thousands of kids to start looking for apps and games outside of the Play Store.

No thanks. While I love the game it isnt worth the security risk. The fact you're really willing to pay apples 30% to be on the app store vs Google's 30% fee (for the same thing) is ridiculous. I was mad at @Sony @PlayStation for cross Play but maybe this is all epics doing
