Really, how did we get to this state? The store prioritizes ad revenue above user intent, so now developers buy ads in front of each others’ products so that exactly nobody’s search results lead to the actual thing they typed. Who in this cycle isn’t crazy?

I have! This, too, is lousy practice that betrays user intent.
It works the same with more generic searches too. Yesterday I tried “turn based RPG” and it returns lots of action games.
but why are you searching for “turn based RPG” when you can search for Heroes of might and magic III?
