I'm glad that the annoying hype is coming to an end for Magic Leap. Billions of dollars can't change the laws of physics for wave guide optics.

Higher FOV has nothing to do with Moore's Law. It's to do with Newton's Laws.

Someday we'll get there.

Hey there, Tim. I'm not against Mages Leaping (jesting). Seriously, I'm not against Magic Leap. For a project I am working on, it wouldn't be out of line of reasoning to support multiple AR & VR platforms. More about my project later.

Sure, but there are a number of other companies that are pursuing the same path, plus or minus some choices in the optics. Part of the case for why ML justified their colossal investment was that they have proprietary technology that was qualitatively better.

But it's increasingly looking like variable focus displays are pretty tractable using more conventional optical assemblies. So if their tracking is hitchier than ARkit and their hand occlusion is worse than Leap Motion, then what's the competitive advantage here?

Moore's Law is descriptive and doesn't try to solve anything. Also, it's broken down and doesn't work.
