Also, "modern programmers" over-complicate code, making it much more difficult to rewrite in a small amount of time. Something that should be 10 lines of code is now a host of required libraries with tons of wrapper classes spread across dozens of files.

An example of black and white again. This time it’s about ”reusing existing solutions is key”. Often it takes more time to glue stuff together than to just make it yourself. With glue you also get added worries like what happens if support for the component ends?

You run into this issue quite often with service based Unity games when you use a lot of components from the Asset Store. Many components do not have a robust organization behind them to upgrade them for new Unity versions.
