Absolutely agree! For technical development nothing beats the open model; the ability to modify as needed is vital. Open also needs maintainers to accept patches, though -- @RaptorEng ported UE4 to our #OpenPOWER platforms, but now we need Epic to consider merging the patches!

Maybe we should thank all the lawyers out there who helped enforce the license agreements. Without those now famous license agreements (GNU, MIT, etc) the original open source movement would have fizzled.

And also all the devs who bring drivers to Linux despite uncooperativeness of some hardware vendors... laptops seem to be ok (based on my 2 samples), but gaming rigs
