I am a Retired U S Navy Rear Admiral and Board Certified and licensed physician. Several times I have been addressed as “Mister.” Never once did I interrupt or correct the addressee. I believed that would detract from the interaction and demean the other person.

I served in the military for 22 years. Those that always needed thier title spoken showed that they couldn't earn respect, so needed to force it by a title.

Exactly my thoughts, I had a lite bird who always wanted this and everyone laughed at him, behind his back, of course. We for the most part were CWO 2-3 and 4s in Army Aviation

As a civilian I could call him Cap’n Butter Knuckles if I wanted to and I’d never have to return a salute. He’s a tool for sure.

I don’t care about the rest of the stuff you said, but I just felt the need to correct you on this. The only one who returns a salute is higher ranking personal. The salute is initiated by the lower ranking person out of respect to the higher rank. Thank you, that’s all
