We need moderates.
Without capable, responsible folks who can find balanced, reasonable policy that appeals to a wide swath of the country, we are left with dramatic political theater.

There is no connection, logical or otherwise, between having moderates and finding balanced, reasonable policy.Historically plenty of non-moderates pols have been great at making compromises. What we need is fewer nihilists. Talk to your friends in the GOP about that problem.
Do you think moderates should have no space in the political discourse? Asserting that there should be a space for moderates isn't asking to take away a voice from those who are not. It's simply staying we need a more complete spectrum of voices.

All this depends on how you define moderate. Today, my opinions that POC are equal get me labeled as a liberal when it shouldn't.

That's a big issue I have with where politics is going. We shouldn't be smooshed out to the edges. If one party moves extreme right or left, that shouldn't automatically put norms into the other party or mean that the moderates cease to exist.

I could care less how pols brand themselves. I don't care--and don't see why any voter ought to care--about this sort of positioning. What matters is how a candidate will vote and what s/he'll fight for.
