It does...because the appropriate response to a joke that demeans people inappropriately is a sincere apology not a nonpology or lack thereof.
Nick would have avoided a world fed up with jerks if he'd owned his actions, as would this bloke with the sexist joke.

I actually found that particular joke sort of "meh", but his reaction to her finding it inappropriate in a professional setting was unacceptable. It's not that hard to say "wow, times have changed and I'll try to be more aware" instead of...not that.
