USDA's own stats you shared shows us how Maine's generous TANF and food stamp program has moved Maine in the wrong direction by effectively increasing food insecurity. Proving Soup Kitchens and Food Cupboards needed, not increasing welfare dependencyhttp://www.commdiginews.com/politics-2/supporters-to-trump-visit-belfast-on-penobscot-bay-55874/ …

No apology necessary Joby. Does this make sense? “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” It's from the Belfast Soup Kitchen's website. Does THAT make any sense to you OR

Sure. Your earlier tweet still makes no sense though.

The more the food stamps keep going out the more the poverty goes up (as your USDA stats show) BUT in my town of Belfast, as
@TiffanyBond well knows, there is no hunger in Waldo County and thus no need for increasing food stamps. This is understood and hope you can make sense of.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I don't think any county in Maine is free from food insecurity, but it does seem like you have a good thing going with the soup kitchen.

That's the rhetoric i'm talking about Tiffany and it's harmful to finding real life solutions not more real life Mainers on government dependence. Just so you know and
@MeEqualJustice knows, as a result of The Belfast Soup Kitchen Waldo County IS "free" from food insecurity.pic.twitter.com/f5jFjtRaxg

I'm not trying to be argumentative. I don't think there is a single county in the country that has "0" food insecurity. Zero is virtually impossible. It doesn't mean there isn't a range of solutions for each community to close that gap or that Waldo isn't actively working on it

There are a variety of reasons for food insecurity - often it can be undiagnosed disability that diminishes capacity to the point people are unable to access services, immigration issues, etc. Availability and transportation does not solve everything if you can't/won't access it.

Ok thanks, not trying to be argumentative either. But YOUR rhetoric is getting thicker with each tweet and I'm happy to prove it. First, are you in agreement with Joby on this...https://twitter.com/justjoby/status/993234659378114560?s=19 …
Adam Ratterree added,
Joby Thoyalil @justjobyReplying to @AERatterree @TiffanyBond @ursahibernicis"The more the food stamps keep going out the more the poverty goes up" You don't need data to know that poverty and SNAP use are correlated. The more poverty goes up, the more people qualify for food assistance. Hence the correlation.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
I probably do agree with Joby on some of it. There are a lot of lenses to look at poverty through. I've been food insecure. I've been government cheese poor. I've been house-staff well-to-do. Each lens changes your perspective.

Poverty is very different if you've never experienced it vs only have experienced it vs have experience both vs have experienced poverty outside of the US. Even when I'd been both poor and well-to-do, that was as a kid and poverty took on new depths for me with age and education.

We grew up poor also, HUD, food stamps no Christmas at all two years. If
@MeEqualJustice &@justjoby including yourself was truly wanting or working to find real life solutions to eliminating poverty throughout Maine and improving the lives of low-income Mainers you all wld be...1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes - Show replies
